Suede is a soft, velvety material made from the underside of animal hides, typically from lamb, calf, goat, or deer. The process begins with the hide being cleaned, treated, and split into layers. The inner layer, known as the flesh side, is used to create suede due to its soft and fibrous texture. After separation, the suede is sanded or buffed to achieve its characteristic nap, which gives it its smooth and velvety feel. Tanning is then carried out to preserve the leather and enhance its durability. Depending on the desired finish, dyes may be applied to give the suede various colors.Suede is softer and thinner than full-grain leather, making it ideal for garments, shoes, and accessories, but it is also more susceptible to water and stains. Proper care, such as waterproofing treatments, is essential to maintain its delicate texture and appearance.
